A prospective Algonquin student toured the city with his band as an alternative to traditional release methods.

On Nov. 8, Oldham celebrated his birthday by touring through the Ottawa with his band Scream Leverage. They played their new single, “There's No I In F@#!ed Up” at Legacy skate park, the By Ward Market as well as Carleton University, the University of Ottawa and Confederation Park.

Oldham contacted Bill Kitchen, the events programmer for the college, in hopes of making Algonquin one of his stops, but received the answer that the college was “not interested” in having Oldham's band perform.

Oldham then took the initiative to plan a segment close enough to Algonquin to allow its students access to this one day event.

About 20 students watched as the band performed their first leg at Legacy skate park. The crowds intensified as the tour extended, but this did not diminish Oldham's focus on his main goal. The front man also used this unconventional tour as a public apology to a friend that he had wronged in the past. The inspiration behind the pop-punk/hardcore band is Oldham's loss of friendship.

“I want people to know how sorry I am to my friend, and how much we should all cherish a relationship like that and to encourage anyone with the opportunity to fight for it,” said Oldham.

The band would like to create music that will inspire and help people through difficult times. Oldham even refers to the band as an ideology and a support system.
