The arrival of Spring brings with it more outdoor activities, less layers of clothes and, a regular staple at Algonquin: SA elections.

Nine new directors were officially appointed by this year's SA at the Annual General Meeting held on March 10 at 12 p.m. in Salon A.

The nine new directors, who were each called up to the stage during the meeting include: Alex Sein, Basil Richardson, Samantha Hildebrandt, Catherine Welsh, Kurt Luchia, Rylan Vroom, Victoria Chahine, Katie Miller and Jacob Sancartier.

The directors begin their jobs May 1st.

According to the SA's website, the job of a director is to govern the management of the SA corporation, and are the students' best voice to reach the higher levels of the college administration.

"We felt that the students selected would best represent the school," current SA president, Mike Hirsch said in a speech after the selection of the directors.

Of the nine, three are running for the position of SA vice-president, they are Katie Miller, Basil Richardson and Kurt Luchia. The vice-president is required to record minutes at board and committee meetings and is expected to step in and perform the duties of the president should they be unable to do so.

There will be a face-off for the title of president between Jacob Sancartier and Alex Sein. The president's job is to head up the concerns of students around campus. They are also expected to talk with the media, and sit in the college collaborative committee, designed to formally address the needs of students.

Campaigning for the positions begin next week culminating in the student body wide vote running from March 22 - 26.
