 I always knew the day would come.  The day I’d get the dreaded Facebook friend request from none other than my mom.
 It came shortly after she’d dropped me off nearly 500 kilometres away from home for my first year of college, something she describes as one the most “heartbreaking” events she’s experienced to date.

Algonquin residence is inconsistently enforcing drug and alcohol policy, hammering some students with the full force of regulations, and letting others off with less than a slap on the wrists.

Walking back to my room from school about two weeks ago, I noticed a booth in the front lobby of residence with an Elections Ontario logo and a sign that read “register to vote in the Ottawa West-Nepean.” When I went to the desk to sign up, the woman handing out the forms told me I was the fifth person to register all day. It was 6 p.m. They had been there since 10 that morning. I was shocked! How could students at the college be that indifferent to the democratic process?
