After an abrupt end to the 2010 season the men's volleyball team is looking ahead to next year.

While a great deal of the players will be returning, the Thunder will be without their captain, Costa Solankis.

"A couple of [this year's players] are on the fence. Costa's a big loss," said Daniel Burke, right side for the Thunder. "A lot of players are returing, I think."

While the team would have like to have gone deeper into the playoffs, their expectations were realistic.

"We had a realisation half way through that we are a rebuilding team and we didn't want to look forward to next year -- we wanted to finish this year strong and try and reach our goals," Burke said.
Despite that, the team has built a strong foundation for the coming season.
"Our team is always in great shape, it's what we built on, we always like going to five sets because, physically, other teams get tired and we would still be fresh," said Burke.
"Next year there are a lot of positive things. Camp through the summer is going to help us out a lot," he continued.

Burke was plagued with injuries throughout the season, he hopes through conditioning this summer to be ready for next year.

Solankis, however, is ready to move on. He hopes to travel to Greece in order to play volleyball professionally.
"[My time at Algonquin] made me realise that I may be able to play pro volleyball. The coaching staff here ... have helped me reach 'somewhat of my potential,' they said, and I'll do a little bit more to get to the next level. It's not quite over, but for Algonquin, it's done," said Solankis.
While his presence will be missed on and off the court, Algonquin is ready for the challenges that next season will bring.
